Depending on the age of the child or dependant, a parent or guardian will need to be present for at least the first appointment if the child is under the age of consent in your province. Whether or not a parent or guardian must be present during following appointments can be discussed with the care provider, but it generally relies on the child’s ability to understand the information relevant to the proposed treatment in issue, and appreciate the reasonably foreseeable consequences of consenting or refusing to consent.
Unlike the typical sign up flow, where a client completes an Informed Consent Form that is automatically uploaded to their care provider, the sign up flow for a minor must be filled out manually.
